Kristi Sword was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She began her studies in metals and jewelry at the Savannah College of Art and Design, receiving her BFA in 2003. In 2006 she returned to school at SUNY New Paltz for her MFA degree. She now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
“My process allows me to concentrate wholly on one thought. Everything else becomes lost. An idea remains, and I allow myself to follow through. The perfection that I wish to attain visually through my work is the opposite of what I am surrounded by in life. The organization that I desire cannot be conveyed in any other way. I must focus on one thing.”
