Kate earned her BFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2001 where she first began creating wearable-art using unusual materials. In 2002, Kate created the very first Zipper Pin. Since then, hundreds of her pins have been sold in museum shops and fine craft galleries across the country. Between 2003 and 2006 Kate studied costume design at the Yale School of Drama and earned her MFA. In 2006, Kate began a series of one-of-a-kind Zipper Necklaces followed by various styles of Zipper Bracelets in 2008. Her Zipper Jewelry has been featured in numerous fashion and art-jewelry magazines including Italian Vogue, Marie Claire, Lucky, and American Craft Magazine, among others.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Kate now works happily in her studio in Carroll Gardens.
